This week's blog entry reviews one of the songs from the 2009 Duke Special's Anniversary EP The EP (the first I'd ever owned) is comprised of two vinyl discs, holding four songs:
- Digging An Early Grave
- You Can't Catch Me
- Texarkana Baby
- Monsters in the Dust
They are, with the exception of Digging An Early Grave, a bit rare. I'm not aware of Peter playing You Can't Catch Me live, nor Texarkana Baby live that was captured on video, at any rate. There is, however, at least one video of a performance of Monsters in the Dust.
Notes from DukeSpecial.com read:
"A 4 track double 7” vinyl celebrating the 60th anniversary of the first 7” vinyl release, “Texarkana Baby” by Eddie Arnold. Recorded live direct to vinyl at Metropolis Studios in London, it is also a commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the last recording directly to vinyl."

Though there is very little subtlety, there is evident affection throughout, excellent musicianship and some fun post-modern nods to the audience, including what seems a deliberate attempt to make You Can't Catch Me resemble the swamp-rock of Come Together as much as possible.

Harry Gill had started a Kickstarter campaign to create a feature length film about Hector Mann. As it stands now, the Kickstarter campaign was cancelled, but a friend who has been in contact with Gill has told me that the project will be resurrected at some point.
In the meantime, you can still look at the information and graphics put up regarding the project.
